Happy Halloween!!/Carving Up Some Pumpkins!!

Hey all! Sorry its been a while since we posted, but we have just recently found our camera again after losing it at Amberly's parents house. Here are some pics of us carving our awesome pumpkins:

Can you believe how long Andrew's hair is getting?

Here is our good friend Joey who carved the pumpkin on the left:

Andrew was very ambitous this year and decided to carve both sides of his pumpkin.

And finally here are some pics of Aydan being a super cute Dragon for Halloween!

We stayed in Elko this year for Halloween because Andrew had to work, I know grown up jobs what can ya do? Anyway we found out that Elko has a fun tradition of setting up these little houses in their convention center. Its called Trick or Treat Street and boy was it super busy. We waited in line for over an hour to trick or treat for ten minutes. After the Trick or Treat Street we headed over to one of Andrew's colleague homes to hang out for a bit and help them pass out candy. Aydan had a lot of fun playing with her two kids and they did a great job of sharing their toys! Something we need to work on with Aydan. :) We topped off the night with watching Ghost Busters with Joey and Lynsie Mortensen. All in all it was great night! Next stop Thanksgiving in California!

Aydan Dancing!

For the last few months Aydan as really been into dancing to any music that comes on the t.v., internet, or stereo. When he hears music that he really loves or gets excited about he jumps up on the coffee table and goes crazy. We have been wanting to get it on video for so long but our camera never seems to be charged. Thankfully our new good friends Joey and Lynsie were over the other day for dinner and caught the Aydan show on their cell phone. I hope you enjoy it!

The other thing I really want to get on video is Aydan watching "Nemo" he is so funny! He is starting to act out the parts and say all the lines, which probably means he has been watching it way to much! :) Or that we have been traveling too much this summer, probably a bit of both.

How a box turns into a fort. :)

For Mothers Day Andrew ordered me a freezer from Home Depot, I know not totally romantic but very needed. The box it came in was so big that even I could stand straight up in it and not hit my head. LOL that's probably not saying much. Anyway Aydan and I turned it into a fort for him to play in and he loved it! Please excuse Aydan not having his shorts on, he wasn't in the mood for them I guess. :)

Aydan falls asleep in the strangest places...

When Andrew and I checked on Aydan one night before we headed off to bed we panicked because we couldn't find him anywhere in his room! After a quick search, Andrew suggested we look under the bed and there he was totally asleep under his bed. :)

Help! I'm stuck in my bed and can't get out!! :)

So just so everyone knows we are alive and kicking. :) And to prove it here are some pics of what Aydan has been up to lately, namely getting stuck in his bed. He does this on purpose and you guessed it to get attention from his sleeping parents in the middle of the night or very early morning. It will be 3:00 am and then we'll hear this little voice calling: "Daddy...Mommy...Stuck!" These pics were taken when he was supposed to be taking his afternoon nap. Enjoy!

The Lotion Monster...Scary Stuff

Aydan has a fixation with lotion and we have found that we can't leave it anywhere in his room. Even the top self of the closet isn't a good enough hiding space. Which is where he found the lotion he is sporting in these pics. A full brand new bottle of lotion all over him and his room. Enjoy!

Aydan Second Birthday Pictures

I know these are two months late but I just had to post them. They are too cute!

Here 's the cake that was supposed to be Mickey Mouse but I was informed that he can't be because he isn't black. Oh well, he tasted yummy!!

Aydan's reaction to his cake.

The massacre of the cake once know as "Brown Mickey". Alas, he is no more. :)

And finally these are from Aydan's birthday lunch at Chuckie Cheese with my parents.

Aydan was a little afraid of all the rides and noise at our little party.

Happy Birthday Aydan!!

Sleeping Issues

As you can see we have been having sleeping issues at our house. For the past few months Aydan has been sleeping in his pack-n-play because his crib was deemed a death trap. For all you mothers out there please be careful when accepting hand me down cribs. Aydan was jumping in his crib and holding onto the rail when it came down and poor Aydan went flying out. It was really sad. :-( Anyway so since the flying episode we have had him in his pack-n-play until two weeks ago when he figured out how to get out of it. This started happening all the time and even all night. The main problem was that he could get out of his bed but not back in. So he would wake us up crying three or four times during the night so we could get him back into his bed. After about a week of this Andrew decided it was time to put him in a big boy bed. He loved the bed just not for sleeping which is why we have been finding him on the floor surrounded by his massive destruction of his room. We have been putting him back into his bed right before we head off to bed. This past Monday was the first time we have actually found him in his bed and not on the floor. Hurray!! Only problem is that his room condition has still not improved. Oh well, I'm sure I will be complaining of his dirty room for many years to come. :-)

Birthday Surprises

Well I have to start this blog with apologising to my husband for being such a stinker about being kidnapped. I think I have a harder time being spontaneous when it involves not knowing who is going to be babysitting my son, but I need not have worried.
We left the house on Friday morning around 10:30 or so and headed south on I-15. After we had passed the exits for my aunts' and Britt's house I figured we were heading to St. George. Which made me really happy because we hadn't seen our families since Christmas and I knew that Aydan would be in good hands. When we got off the freeway we headed over to Andrew's sister's house to drop Aydan off, but when we got there Andrew just wanted to hang out. Which made me way cranky because I didn't know what the heck was going on. I kept insisting that if Aydan was going to stay with Bri that I wanted to at least let my parents see Aydan for a minute before we took off to our birthday destination. But he kept stalling and stalling and stalling. And most of you can guess why he was by now but Andrew is pretty tricky I had no idea why. So we finally left Bri's and Andrew wanted to go get me a drink at Fabulous Freddies because they have raspberry flavoring, which I love. But all I wanted at that point was to get to my parents and just have a drink there. So we get to my parents house and no one will open the door and I see Haylie hiding through the glass. So I told her to hurry up and open the door because Aydan is getting really heavy now that he's two and my arms were killing me. So she opens the door and does not act surprised to see me at all which I thought was kinda strange. But anyway, so we go down the hall to the kitchen and my mom and my brother Zac yell: "Surprise!". Turns out my sweet husband and my wonderful mom had planned a surprise party for me and since I was being such a brat I ruined my own party...:-( No one one else was able to get home before we got there so I had a total party of three to greet me. Oh well, it was really fun when everyone got there!
After dinner and birthday cake Andrew told me he had another surprise and that I needed to put on something dressy. So I got all dressed up and we left Aydan with my parents. We headed over to Dixie college to see The Ten Tenors, and they were SO good!! They had quite a repertoire. They sang opera as well as Queen and the Bee Gees. After the concert we went to good old Larson's and had glaciers. It was so nice to have a date night with my wonderful husband even if he was a little sore with me for ruining my party. :-)
The next morning we went swimming with my family and then headed up to my parent's brand new cabin! It was the first time for my family to spend the night at the cabin and we were all so excited. We stayed up late, played games and just enjoyed being together.
It may not sound like the most romantic birthday because we were with family most of the weekend but it was exactly what I wanted for my birthday! I am so grateful for a husband who is willing to share me on my special day with almost all of the people I love the most. Besides we are going on a house hunting trip next week ALL by ourselves!! I totally love my little son but sometimes you need some time all alone with your husband. :-) Thanks to all of you who called, text, or sang me a happy birthday!

Kidnapped?!?

So my birthday is coming up on Sunday and Andrew is always so secretive about what he is planning. Last year all he told me was that I needed to dress up nice for our birthday date. He called the babysitters, he made all the reservations, and he even bought a new suit coat. Liz and Brett were nice enough to come sit and away we went. He took me out to a very nice restaurant at The Gateway and while we were waiting for our food he gave me the most beautiful aquamarine ring. (My birthstone) And to top it all off we went to a concert. After all of these wonderful birthday celebrations I told him I didn't think he could top it the next year. Well he seems to be proving me wrong. Last night I was smugly informed that we needed to cancel our plans to go out with the Richeys(sorry guys!) and that I needed to pack an overnight bag. Huh?
"Who is going to watch Aydan?" I said. And all he would reply is: "I took care of it". So folks it seems that I am being kidnapped by my husband for my birthday, and I all I can think is: I am a
Lucky Girl!

5. Who eats more? Andrew most definitely

6. Who said I Love you First? Andrew. He told me he loved me on our first official date. To be fair we had been hanging out every night for a week before this date. :-) I know, it gives a totally new definition of the term "speed dating".

7. Who is taller? Um lets see...5'1 versus 6'2? Andrew wins!

8. Who sings better? Andrew would I say I do since I have had a lot more experience but he can sing as well.

9. Who is smarter? We both have our smarts they are just different which is great because we complement each other.

10. Who temper is worse? Mine most definitely. Andrew hates contention and will just stop talking until we calm down. His motto is that he never wants to regret anything he says to me.

11. Who does the laundry? I wash it and then it usually sits in our room until Andrew folds it, I hate to fold.

21. Who Proposed? Andrew! Of course! We had been dating for about three weeks and we had gone out to dinner with my parents in Zion Canyon. After dinner we decided to take a drive and ended up getting out of the car at this beautiful bridge. We walked to bridge and just started talking and in the middle of our conversation he got down on one knee and asked me. Which was completely unplanned but very romantic. About two weeks later he proposed a second time with a ring in the exact spot we met. It was simple and romantic.

22. Who has more friends? We are probably about even.

23. Who has more siblings? He has five and I have four.

24. Who wears the pants in the family? Andrew likes to say that I wear the pants and he gets to take them off. :-)

Random pictures of my little family

I have finally gotten the desktop computer away from Andrew! So I can now post some pictures. This first one is of me 9 months pregnant with Aydan and then here's one from my baby shower. The reason I am adding this one is because I don't have any more recent ones of me and some of you guys...sorry Britt I don't have any of you at all! We need to fix that! This one of Aydan was taken when he was one day old.

Here is one of Aydan in his Halloween costume last year:

These next few are of when we went to Florida last October:

My parents and Aydan at the Magic Kingdom:

Aydan and Andrew after a long day at Universal Studios. Poor Andrew was sick on the way to Florida, Aydan was sick while we were there, and I got sick on the way home. All in all it was quite a trip trying to feel like you got your money's worth and yet not killing your sick little family. Midweek we took a break from the parks and headed to the beach which was Aydan's absolute favorite thing he did all week.

And finally some random recent photos of my boys:
Aydan being mischievous and getting his Legos all over the apartment:

Andrew explaining to Aydan how to pick up his Legos from all over the apartment.

Well folks that is it for now. I am sure now that I have briefly covered the last two years or so I can be much more recent with my blogs. Heres hoping. :-)

My new phone!

Andrew totally surprised me today by giving me an early birthday present. He said he wanted to get out of the house for a bit and would I like to come along? I was all too happy to have a break from my tiny apartment so off we went. To make a long story short we ended up at the Verizon store at The Gateway. I was really confused but he explained that we were due for an upgrade and that he had a gift certificate from work for 150.00 dollars. So I could pick any phone I wanted for my birthday! He had been planning this for two months! I was quite overwhelmed for minute, we usually don't buy phones we get the freebies that come with the contracts, but I decided I was up for the challenge. I ended up getting a PDA phone called the XV6800 because it had a great camera and I could also use it to plan appointments and keep track of my little family. To say the least I have been really happy with my present and I have played with it all afternoon. Aren't husbands great?

p.s.: Heres a picture of my new phone!

Sorry it has taken SO long!!!

I know I know I know....I have taken forever to do anything with this blog. Life has been so crazy as of late and those of you who have been talking to me lately know exactly what why.:-) Who knew it was so hard to pick a job? But we have finally decided to go to Elko, Nevada to work for Barrick Gold. We are so excited to have this job because Andrew doesn't have to travel and he doesn't have to be underground. Yeah! We will be out in the sticks and we are actually happy to have some country life. We are looking to buy a house out in a little town called Spring Creek. It is about 15 miles from Elko and they do have their own grocery store. Although after checking it out we might decide to go to the Walmart in Elko, the prices were pretty high. But I am so in love with this house! It is 3251 sq feet and 1600 of that is a finished upstairs. The basement is unfinished but the upstairs has three bedrooms and two bathrooms so I think we will be fine until we need the extra space. And speaking of space we will have around two acres!! After living in apartments for last five years it is totally amazing to me to think we will have that much room.
Anyway as soon as I get to use the desktop computer I will post some pictures, Aydan has gotten so big lately! Love you all!
